DTN COMMENTS:  Still just a few bids on the table in parts of Kansas, 
with some early asking prices noted around $235 to $237 in the South. 
Packer inquiries should continue to improve today, but significant trade 
volume will likely be delayed until Thursday and/or Friday.

Today's slaughter totaled 115,000 head, 30,000 greater than last week, 
but 9,000 less than a year ago. Cattle futures closed sharply lower on 
both live (off 132 to 220) and feeder (off 245 to 352) contracts. Beef 
cutouts are expected to close mixed with moderate to good box movement.
